Overview
Every building depends on its electrical system. When the design is right and the installation is done properly, power is safe, reliable and ready to grow with the building. Interkasi Engineering and Supplies is a CRB-registered Electrical Works Contractor (Class 6) delivering electrical design and installation for homes, offices, hotels, schools, hospitals and factories across Tanzania.
We work from our base in Arusha and take on projects in other regions, including Kilimanjaro and Dar es Salaam. Our electrical scope runs from the building’s internal wiring through to overhead power lines, transformers and standby generators, so one team can take responsibility for the power system from the supply point to the last socket.
What we do
Every part of this service and how we deliver it.
We design the electrical system around how the building will actually be used: load requirements, distribution boards, cable routes, lighting and power points, earthing and protection. Installation follows the design, and the system is tested before hand-over. We deliver this for residential buildings, commercial properties such as hotels and offices, and industrial sites such as factories.
Where a site needs power carried across open ground, for example between a transformer and the buildings it serves, we install 400V overhead lines. This is the kind of work involved on larger campus and estate projects, such as the school development at Laroi Village, Oljoro in Arusha.
Larger sites need a transformer to step the supply voltage down to usable levels. We install distribution transformers, including 50kVA 33kV/400V units, and connect them into the site’s electrical system as part of a complete power installation.
Standby power keeps hospitals, hotels and production lines running when the grid does not. We supply and install generators, for example the 150kVA generator delivered for a vanilla extraction factory in Moshi, and connect them so they take over the load as planned.
Production equipment needs the right supply, protection and connections before it can run. For factories we install machinery and connect it to the electrical system we have designed, so the plant and its power supply are planned together.
On a turnkey project we take on the electrical scope from design through supply, installation and testing, so the client deals with one contractor rather than coordinating several. Turnkey delivery is common on our larger building projects, where electrical works are installed together with ICT, CCTV, fire alarm and solar power.
