Solar & Renewable Energy

From solar backup to full EPC plants, engineered for Tanzanian sites.

Overview

One accountable team, from design to hand-over.

Solar power can reduce dependence on the grid and keep critical equipment running when it fails. Interkasi is registered with the Tanzania Contractors Registration Board as a Renewable Energies Installer, Class 3 (Reg. No. SPE3/761/02/2021), and designs and installs solar systems that support a cleaner, more sustainable future for Tanzania.

Our solar work is part of the same team that does the building’s electrical installation. That means solar is planned together with the rest of the power system rather than added on afterwards, whether it is a backup system for a hospital, solar for a hotel, or a plant built to run machinery.

  • CRB-registered Renewable Energies Installer, Class 3 (Reg. No. SPE3/761/02/2021)
  • Proven delivery of a 90kVA solar plant under an EPC contract
  • Solar planned together with electrical, ICT and security systems
  • Maintenance support for electrical and solar installations

What we do

Capabilities

Every part of this service and how we deliver it.

01

Solar power systems installation for buildings

We install solar power systems on homes, schools, hotels and commercial buildings. The system is sized around the building’s energy needs and integrated with its electrical installation. Solar power forms part of the planned building services at projects such as the Sunset Hotel in Arusha and Arusha Science Secondary School.

02

Solar backup power systems

A solar backup system keeps essential loads running when the grid is unavailable. It is especially valuable for healthcare, offices and homes where lights, security and communications must stay on. We have included solar backup in scopes such as Kundy Polyclinic Hospital in Dar es Salaam and the Shades of Green Safaris headquarters in Arusha.

03

EPC solar projects: design, construction and installation

EPC means engineering, procurement and construction. On an EPC solar project we take responsibility for the full lifecycle: designing the system, procuring the equipment, and building and installing it. This gives the client a single point of accountability for the finished plant.

04

Solar plants for machinery, such as a 90kVA milling plant

Productive equipment needs dependable power. We designed, built and installed a 90kVA solar power plant for milling machines in Malambo, Loliondo, for Save the Maasai Children (NGO), completed between June and September 2021.

Who it is for

Built around your site

01

Homes and residential estates

Solar backup that keeps lights, security and key appliances running during outages.

02

Hospitals, clinics and schools

Backup power for essential services and institutional campuses.

03

Hotels and commercial buildings

Solar integrated with the building’s electrical, ICT and security systems.

04

NGOs, farms and agro-processors

Solar plants sized for machinery such as mills and processing equipment, including in off-grid locations.

How we work

From brief to hand-over

  1. 1

    Energy needs assessment

We establish what you need to power, for how long, and whether the system is for backup, daily use or machinery.

  2. 2

    System design and proposal

We design the solar system and set out the scope, equipment and quotation.

  3. 3

    Procurement and installation

Equipment is supplied and installed and connected to the building’s electrical system.

  4. 4

    Testing, hand-over and support

The system is tested and handed over, with maintenance support available afterwards.

FAQ

Common questions

Cannot find your answer? Our team will gladly help.

Ask our team
Are you registered to install solar systems in Tanzania?

Yes. Interkasi is registered with the Tanzania Contractors Registration Board (CRB) as a Renewable Energies Installer, Class 3, Registration No. SPE3/761/02/2021.

What is the difference between solar installation and an EPC solar project?

Solar installation covers fitting a system to a building. An EPC project covers engineering design, procurement of equipment and construction of the whole plant under one contract.

Can solar power keep my building running during a power cut?

A solar backup system is designed to supply essential loads when the grid is down. What it can supply depends on how it is sized, so we start by assessing what you need to keep running.

Can solar power run machinery?

Yes. We designed and installed a 90kVA solar power plant for milling machines in Loliondo. Systems for machinery are sized around the equipment’s energy needs.

Do you maintain solar systems after installation?

Yes. Ongoing maintenance of electrical and solar installations is part of our services. See our maintenance and testing page for details.
